Why does my dummy camera battery run out faster than expected?

Modified on Mon, 24 Aug at 2:19 PM

If the battery life seems short, the usual reasons are frequent light use, poor battery quality or a battery compartment that is not making proper contact. Start with the simplest checks before assuming the product is faulty.

1. Fit fresh batteries

  1. Use a new set of AA batteries of the same type.
  2. Insert them in the correct direction and close the compartment fully.

If the flashing effect lasts longer with fresh batteries, the earlier batteries were likely weak.

2. Check for unnecessary drain

  1. See whether the product is left active in a very bright location where the effect is hard to notice.
  2. Move it away from heat, damp or direct weather exposure if it is not intended for that exact environment.

Harsh conditions can shorten battery life and affect appearance.

3. Inspect the contacts

  1. Look for corrosion, dirt or poor alignment at the battery terminals.
  2. Clean only light residue with a dry cloth.

If the battery compartment is damaged, it may not hold power reliably.

4. Stop using it if batteries leak or the compartment overheats

Stop using the product immediately if there is leakage, swelling, heat or a burning smell. Do not keep trying different batteries if the compartment appears damaged. If the issue remains unresolved or safe use is uncertain, contact the retailer or store where the product was purchased. Product data: 10.016.07, generic troubleshooting.
