If the lid feels stuck after cooking, the plates may still be under pressure from steam, melted filling or food residue around the edges. Open it only when it has cooled slightly and never use force. Stop using the appliance if the lid jams, the hinge feels damaged or the handle becomes unusually hot.
- Switch off and unplug the sandwich maker first. Let it cool for a short while with the lid closed and then try again carefully. Expected result: the lid should release without resistance once the steam pressure drops. If it does not, continue.
- Check whether filling has leaked onto the edges or hinge area. Sticky cheese or sauce can bind the plates together. Expected result: the lid should open more easily after cooling and cleaning. If not, continue.
- Use the handle and lock gently, without levering the lid. Forcing it can damage the hinge or the coating. Expected result: the lid should separate smoothly. If it remains stuck, stop using the product.
- Clean the perimeter of the plates once fully cool. Remove any residue with a damp cloth or soft brush. Expected result: future cooking should open more easily. If the lid still binds, the appliance should not be used.
If the lid continues to stick, or if safe opening is uncertain, stop using the sandwich maker and contact the retailer or store where it was purchased.
