Why is my slow juicer not turning after I switch it on?

Modified on Thu, 20 Aug at 4:09 PM

If your slow juicer powers on but the auger does not turn, the cause is often incorrect assembly, too much food at once, or a safety stop from an overloaded feed area. Do not keep trying to force it, and stop using it immediately if you smell burning, see smoke or hear repeated hard clicking.

First checks

  1. Switch off and unplug the juicer before checking any part. Reassemble the feed section carefully, because this model uses a conical screw, a food pusher and a stainless steel mesh filter that must sit correctly for normal operation.
  2. Confirm that the appliance stands flat on a dry surface with the non-slip feet in contact with the worktop. A slight wobble can prevent smooth starting.
  3. Try again with a small amount of soft fruit or vegetables first. The model is suitable for hard and soft fruit and vegetables, so a gentle test load is the safest way to isolate the problem.
  4. If the auger still will not turn, switch off, unplug and allow the appliance to cool for a short time before trying once more. Expected result: the slow juicer should resume normal rotation once the load is reduced and the parts are fitted correctly.

When to stop

  • Stop using the appliance if the motor hums but the screw remains stuck.
  • Stop using it if you notice damage to the feed area, mesh filter, housing or cable.

If the issue remains unresolved, or safe use is uncertain, contact the retailer or store where the product was purchased. They can explain the available next steps.
