Why does my sous vide display stay on but the water does not seem to circulate properly?

Modified on Tue, 25 Aug at 2:03 PM

If the display is active but the bath does not seem to move or heat evenly, the appliance may be set up incorrectly, blocked by the container position or affected by a low water level. Stop using it if circulation seems weak and the unit becomes hot, noisy or unstable.

What to check

  1. Make sure the appliance is mounted straight and firmly to the container wall.
  2. Check that there is enough water for the circulation system to work safely.
  3. Move food bags so they do not block the water flow around the stick.
  4. Watch whether the water moves more evenly after re-positioning the unit.

What the result means

  • If movement improves after re-positioning, the issue was likely setup-related.
  • If the water still seems still or uneven, the pump or circulation path may be restricted.
  • If the problem appears only when the appliance is under load, the container may be too full.

Stop using the product if...

Stop immediately if the unit overheats, makes new noises or you suspect the electrical section is wet. If the problem remains unresolved or safe use is uncertain, contact the retailer or store where the product was purchased.
