Why is my sous vide water not heating to the temperature I set?

If the water stays cooler than the set temperature, first check the bath setup and whether the appliance can circulate and heat properly. Small setup issues, rather than a fault, are often the cause. Because this is a mains heated appliance used in water, stop using it if you see damage, leaking, or anything that makes safe operation uncertain.

1. Confirm that the water level is within the indicated range on the appliance. The product includes a water level indicator and boil-dry protection, so running too low can affect heating and safety. The expected result is a stable water level that stays above the minimum while cooking.
2. Check that the container is suitable, deep enough and not overcrowded. The expected result is enough space for water to circulate freely. If the bath is too shallow or tightly packed, move the food and device to a more suitable container.
3. Make sure the target temperature is set correctly and allow enough time for the water to come up to heat. A larger volume of water will take longer. The expected result is a gradual rise in water temperature, not an instant jump.
4. Verify that the water is not being cooled by strong draughts, a cold worktop or repeated lid opening. The expected result is steadier temperature once the bath is covered or left undisturbed.
5. If the temperature still does not rise, unplug the unit and stop using it. Contact the retailer or store where it was purchased, especially if the display behaves normally but the water never warms.
