Can I use my dummy camera outdoors in wet weather?

The dummy camera is described as suitable for indoor and outdoor use, but it still needs a sensible location that stays as dry as possible and is protected from direct weather exposure. If it has been in heavy rain, mist or condensation, dry it fully before using it again.

1. Take the unit down and inspect it for water inside the housing, corrosion around the battery compartment or damp mounting points.
2. Wipe the outside with a dry, soft cloth and leave it in a warm, airy place until completely dry.
3. Check whether the batteries are dry, secure and free from leakage.
4. Refit the camera only when the mount, compartment and exterior are fully dry.
5. Relocate the camera if it was installed where water can run onto it or pool around it.

What the result means

If the unit works again after drying, moisture was the likely cause. If the camera still shows faults or water has reached the inside, it may no longer be safe or reliable to use.

When to stop using it

Stop using the camera if you see internal moisture, battery leakage, rust or any sign of damage from rain or condensation.
