If your solar light only stays on briefly, the battery may not be charging enough during the day or the product may not have enough stored power for the current conditions. Use conservative checks first, and stop using the product if you notice swelling, leakage, heat, moisture inside or damaged wiring.
Check the day’s charging conditions
- Confirm the panel had direct daylight for most of the day.
- Look for shade from plants, fences, walls or seasonal changes.
- Observe whether the run time improves after several clear days.
Short run time after poor charging is common and may improve when the panel receives more light.
Clean the panel and fittings
- Wipe the panel gently with a soft damp cloth.
- Remove dust or grime that could reduce charging.
- Check that the light is securely mounted and not tilted away from the sun.
If the angle or dirt was the cause, the product should last longer after cleaning and repositioning.
Consider temperature and age
- Note whether the weather is very cold, as battery performance can drop in low temperatures.
- Compare with earlier behaviour after a full charge cycle.
- If the light has recently become much shorter lived than before, the battery may be nearing the end of its useful life.
If the issue remains unresolved or safe use is uncertain, stop using the product and contact the retailer or store where the product was purchased.
