Why does my wired doorbell ring constantly after I press the button?

If the chime keeps ringing or sounding as though the button is stuck, the bell push may be jammed, misaligned or affected by moisture. Stop using the product straight away if it becomes warm, emits a buzzing sound or the ringing does not stop after the button is released.

1. Release the bell push fully and check whether it moves back to its resting position. If it sticks, clean only the exterior and make sure the faceplate is not trapped against a wall or frame.
2. Look for dirt, paint, debris or moisture around the button edge. If the push has been exposed to rain, dry it completely before trying again.
3. Check the wiring at the bell push if it can be accessed safely. A wire that touches where it should not can keep the circuit closed.
4. Test whether the problem happens only when the button is pressed firmly or at a certain angle. If so, the switch mechanism may be worn or misaligned.
5. If the chime continues to ring without being pressed, stop using the product and contact the retailer or store where it was purchased.

Constant ringing is not normal and can mean the circuit is being held closed. Do not keep testing a push button that feels stuck, wet or hot, because that can point to a fault that needs proper attention.
