If your wired doorbell uses a battery-supported bell push or illuminated push button, an incorrect battery fit can stop the button from working as expected. Stop using the product if the battery compartment is damaged, there is leakage or the unit becomes warm.
Check the battery area carefully
- Switch off the electrical supply before opening or refitting the push button battery compartment, if your model has one.
- Make sure the battery is inserted the correct way round and the compartment closes fully.
- Check for corrosion, residue or a bent contact inside the battery area.
- Confirm the button itself still moves freely after reassembly.
- Test the doorbell again after closing the compartment securely.
How to interpret the result
- If the doorbell works after reseating the battery, the issue was likely contact-related.
- If it still fails, the wiring or the button mechanism may be at fault.
- If there is any leakage or swelling, stop using the product immediately.
If the issue remains unresolved, or safe use is uncertain, contact the retailer or store where it was purchased for guidance.
