Why does my electric blanket heat unevenly or leave cold spots?

Uneven warmth usually means the blanket is not lying flat, the cover or bedding is trapping heat, or part of the heating wire is not performing as expected. A small cold area can be caused by setup, but a persistent cold strip or patch should not be ignored.

1. Lay the blanket flat and smooth out any folds or creases before switching it on. Expected result: the warmth should spread more evenly. If a folded section heats differently, reset the blanket flat and try again.
2. Check that the blanket is not tucked in, covered by thick bedding or pressed under cushions. Expected result: the heat should move through the blanket more consistently when it is used as intended. If coverage changes the symptom, reduce the layering and retest.
3. Confirm the controller is attached securely and the selected setting is appropriate for the model. Expected result: the blanket should warm across the full intended area. If the controller connection is loose, stop using the product.
4. Feel for a section that stays completely cold after several minutes while the rest warms up. Expected result: warmth should be broadly even across the blanket. A fixed cold area can suggest a broken heating wire, so stop using the blanket.
5. If the problem remains or you are unsure whether the pattern is normal, stop using it and contact the retailer or store where it was purchased.
