Why does my barbecue not sit flat after I assemble the stand?

If a barbecue does not sit flat after assembly, a stand part may be upside down, loose or missing, or the appliance may be on an uneven surface. Because a tilted barbecue can be unsafe when hot, stop using it if you cannot make it level or if a support part is damaged.

1. Move the barbecue to a flat floor or patio and check whether it still tilts. Expected result: if the surface is the cause, the barbecue should sit level once moved.
2. Inspect the stand, feet and fixings, then tighten any loose connections that are accessible without opening the appliance. Expected result: the frame should feel more rigid and stable.
3. Check that the barbecue body is seated correctly on the stand and not resting on one edge. Expected result: the cooking section should sit evenly on the support frame.
4. Remove any packaging material, stones or debris trapped under the feet. Expected result: the base should contact the floor evenly.
5. Stop using the barbecue immediately if the frame, feet or fixing points are bent, cracked or missing, or if the barbecue still leans after refitting.
