If one speed works but the others do not, the issue is usually in the control selection, the power supply or the internal switching. Stop using the fan if a setting causes unusual noise, heat or an intermittent start, because that can point to a fault.
- Cycle the control slowly through each available speed and wait a few seconds at every position.
Expected result: each setting should give a clearly different output.
- Unplug the fan, then plug it into a different wall socket and test again.
Expected result: the same settings should still work if the fan is healthy.
- Check whether the control feels loose, stiff or unusually hard to turn.
Expected result: the control should move normally without skipping positions.
- Let the fan cool down if it has been running for a while, then retest every setting.
Expected result: if a hot fan behaves differently, overheating may be involved.
- If one or more speeds still do not work, stop using the fan and contact the retailer or store where it was purchased.
Expected result: all available speed settings should operate as intended.
