Why does the oscillation on my stand fan not work properly?

If the stand fan should oscillate but only turns part of the way, sticks or does not move at all, check for blockage or incorrect setup first. Do not force the head by hand, and stop using the fan if you hear grinding, see bending or notice that the movement is jerky enough to suggest damage.

1. Switch the fan off and unplug it before checking the head and stand.

   Expected result: the fan should always be handled only when fully isolated from power.

2. Make sure the fan is set up straight and standing on a level surface.

   Expected result: correct positioning should help the oscillation mechanism move freely.

3. Check whether any nearby object, cable or wall is limiting the movement range.

   Expected result: the fan should have enough space to swing without obstruction.

4. Test the fan again on a lower speed setting.

   Expected result: if oscillation works more smoothly, the higher setting may have been too demanding.

5. If oscillation still fails or sounds rough, stop using the product and contact the retailer or store where it was purchased.

   Expected result: a smooth side-to-side movement should not require force.
