Why does my sous vide timer not count down properly?

Modified on Mon, 24 Aug at 3:17 PM

If the timer does not count down as expected, the issue is usually related to how the cooking cycle was started or confirmed. This sous vide stick has a digital timer with an audible signal, so a setting that was not accepted can look like a timer fault even when the appliance is working normally.

  1. Check that the timer value was set before starting the cooking cycle. Expected result: the display should show a clear countdown rather than a static time.
  2. Confirm that the appliance is still powered and has not been interrupted by a loose plug or socket issue. Expected result: the timer continues steadily through the session.
  3. Look for a pause caused by low water level or a protection trigger. Expected result: once the condition is corrected, the timer and heating should behave normally.
  4. If the countdown seems frozen, wait briefly and observe whether the display updates after the next control input. Expected result: the timer should react once the appliance has accepted the setting.

If the timer repeatedly fails to count down, or if the appliance stops heating unexpectedly, stop using it and contact the retailer or store where it was purchased.
