Why does my hand blender need to be held at an angle to work properly?

If the hand blender only seems to work when it is tilted, the problem is usually related to the container shape, the ingredient level or the way the blades are meeting the food. It should not need a strange angle to function.

1. Switch off and unplug the appliance, then move the ingredients into a deeper, narrower container if possible.
2. Make sure the blade end is fully submerged before starting. If it is partly in the air, the appliance may seem to work only at an angle.
3. Check whether the ingredients are too low in the jug. Too little volume can leave the blades out of the mixture.
4. Blend in shorter bursts and move the appliance gently up and down rather than forcing a fixed tilt.
5. If the appliance still only works when angled, stop using it and inspect for damage or a loose fitting.

The expected result is stable blending in a normal upright or slightly moving position. Stop using the hand blender if the shaft bends, if the attachment feels loose, or if the appliance becomes noisy or unstable when held straight. Do not use force to compensate for poor contact, and do not open the housing. If the issue remains unresolved or safe use is uncertain, contact the retailer or store where the product was purchased.
