Why is my citrus juicer making more noise than expected?

Modified on Thu, 20 Aug at 4:09 PM

A citrus juicer should usually sound relatively quiet, so a sudden increase in noise can point to misalignment, trapped pulp, or a worn part. Do not keep using it if the sound becomes harsh, grinding or accompanied by vibration, because that can signal a safety problem.

Steps to narrow it down

  1. Switch off and unplug the juicer before touching any part. Remove the cone and jug, then check that they are fitted correctly when you reassemble. The product is described as low noise and easy to clean, so residue or poor fitting is a sensible first thing to rule out.
  2. Check that the appliance sits flat on the counter and that the non-slip feet are fully in contact with the surface. A tilted base can increase vibration.
  3. Try juicing one halved citrus fruit. Expected result: the noise should remain steady and moderate. If the sound changes when the fruit is pressed harder, the issue may be excess force rather than a fault.
  4. Clean away pulp from the cone, pulp filter area and jug after unplugging. Build-up can make the moving parts work harder and sound rougher.

When to stop

  • Stop using the juicer immediately if you hear scraping, grinding or a metallic rattle.
  • Stop using it if the cone appears cracked, the appliance vibrates strongly, or any part seems loose.

If the issue remains unresolved, or safe use is uncertain, contact the retailer or store where the product was purchased. They can explain the available next steps.
