Why does my toaster leave the middle of the slice pale while the edges brown first?
Uneven browning can be caused by bread thickness, slice shape or how the slice sits in the slot. The manuals note that thinner bread may need different placement and that bread should be centred in the toast slots where possible. fileciteturn0file0turn0file3
Diagnostic steps
- Try a thicker or more evenly cut slice.
- Place the bread centrally in the slot.
- Toast one slice at a time to compare results.
- Try a different bread type to see whether the shape changes the result.
Expected result
The slice should brown more evenly when it sits straight and fills the slot appropriately.
When to stop
Stop if the bread holder or slot seems damaged, bent or obstructed.
When to contact support
Contact support if bread positioning does not improve the browning pattern, or if one side of the slot appears to heat differently every time.
