How to solve an empty sound despite new batteries?

Modified on Thu, 20 Aug at 3:57 PM

Intro

  • Follow this step-by-step guide if your smoke detector still beeps at intervals, indicating empty batteries, but you've inserted new batteries.

Step 1

  • Take the smoke detector off its back plate.

Step 2

  • Take out the battery.

Step 3

  • Take a piece of metal, electrical wire or even better, a bent paperclip.

Stap 5

  • Place one end of the paperclip on one of the battery contacts (see image to the right) and place the other end on the second battery contact.

Step 6

  • Insert the battery again
  • The issue should now be resolved. Your smoke detector should no longer beep inless the battery is truly empty.
