If crumbs or sticky residue keep returning, the toaster may need more careful routine cleaning than a quick empty of the tray. Clean, dry maintenance helps keep the slots clear and reduces smells during use.
- Unplug the toaster and let it cool fully. Remove the crumb tray, empty it and wipe it dry before refitting it.
- Shake the toaster gently over a bin to release loose crumbs. Do not turn it upside down and do not use metal utensils inside the slots.
- Wipe the outside with a slightly damp cloth only. Never immerse the toaster in water.
- Check whether bread has been breaking apart during use. If so, try a different loaf or a lower setting so fewer crumbs are left behind.
- If residue appears burnt onto the heating area, stop using the toaster if there is any visible damage or burning smell.
Stop using the toaster if cleaning reveals cracked plastic, damaged wiring, or scorch marks inside the slots. If the issue remains unresolved or safe use is uncertain, contact the retailer or store where the product was purchased.
