Why is my air cooler remote control not responding?

Modified on Tue, 25 Aug at 2:33 PM

If the remote does not change the air cooler’s settings, the issue is usually the battery, the direction it is pointed or the distance to the appliance. This is a common first-line problem and is usually straightforward to narrow down safely.

How to test it

  1. Replace the batteries: the manuals for these models use AAA batteries in the remote control. Fit new batteries the right way round and replace both at the same time.
  2. Try the controls close to the appliance: stand directly in front of the air cooler and press one button at a time.
  3. Remove obvious obstructions: make sure nothing blocks the path between the remote and the receiver.
  4. Use the panel controls if available: if the appliance responds on the panel but not the remote, the remote is the most likely source of the problem.

Some models in this range include a remote control as part of the supplied accessories, while others rely on the appliance controls alone. That means the remote issue should be checked only on models that actually include one.

When to stop using it

Stop using the product if the remote issue comes with electrical smells, erratic power loss or if the appliance behaves unpredictably after a battery change. Do not try to open the remote or the main unit. If the remote still does not respond after fresh batteries and close-range testing, contact the retailer or store where the product was purchased.
