If the alarm from your water detector sounds quieter than expected, check the battery, the detector's location and whether anything is blocking the sound. A weak alarm can make it harder to notice a leak quickly, so treat it as important.
Check power first
- Confirm the battery is fitted correctly and is not old or depleted.
- Replace the battery with the correct type if the current one is uncertain.
Expected result: a healthy battery should restore normal alarm strength. If the sound is still weak, continue.
Check the placement
- Make sure the detector is not hidden under cloth, inside a closed cabinet or behind a thick object.
- Move it to a more open position if the sound is being muffled.
Expected result: the alarm should be easier to hear in an open location. If the detector is already open to the room, continue.
Inspect the unit
- Look for dirt, moisture or damage around the casing and sensor area.
- Dry the unit fully and test it again after cleaning.
Expected result: the sound should be clear if the unit is dry and clean. If it still sounds weak, the detector may not be safe to rely on.
