If the lamp only works properly with some bulbs, the issue is usually bulb compatibility, contact fit or bulb condition. Stop using any bulb that makes the lamp flicker, buzz or heat up abnormally.
Check the bulb type and fit
- Use only a bulb that is intended for the lamp holder.
- Make sure the bulb sits firmly in the socket and does not wobble.
- Observe whether the lamp works consistently with one known working bulb.
If one bulb works well and another does not, the second bulb is likely unsuitable or faulty.
Compare the symptoms
- Note whether the lamp only fails with dimming, low output or older bulbs.
- If the lamp is dimmable, test the bulb in a normal on or off setting before using any dimmer function.
- Watch for flicker, slow start-up or uneven light, which can point to a poor bulb match.
Stop using it if the pattern is unsafe
- If different bulbs all produce heat, buzzing or a burning smell, stop using the lamp.
- If the holder looks damaged or loose, do not force another bulb into place.
- Contact the retailer or store where it was purchased if you cannot resolve the issue safely.
Do not use improvised bulbs, adapters or modified fittings. The lamp should only be used in the way it was designed to be used.
