If the battery in a bell push is going flat much sooner than expected, the button may be stuck, the battery type may be unsuitable or the push may be operating more often than you realise. Stop using the product if the battery compartment is hot, swollen or shows leakage.
- Check the battery type and confirm it matches the product information. If the wrong battery has been fitted, replace it with the correct type and test again.
- Inspect the bell push for a button that does not return fully or a cover that traps the switch. A jammed switch can drain the battery quickly.
- Look for signs that the doorbell is being triggered repeatedly, for example by vibration, wind or a loose cover. If that happens, reposition or secure the push button.
- Clean the outside of the button and battery area only if it is safe to do so, then retest. Dust and moisture can make the push work harder than necessary.
- If the battery still drains unusually fast, or if the compartment looks damaged, stop using the product and contact the retailer or store where it was purchased.
Rapid battery drain is often linked to a switch problem rather than the battery itself. Do not keep using a battery compartment that has leaked, swollen or become warm, because that can indicate a fault that needs proper attention.
