If your water detector reacts slowly to standing water, the issue may be placement, surface contact or contamination on the sensor. A delay can reduce the warning time, so it is worth checking the installation point carefully before continuing to rely on the unit.
- Check whether the detector is resting flat on the surface and whether the sensor points are close enough to the likely water path. Expected result: better contact should improve the speed of detection.
- Wipe away dust, soap film or residue from the detector base and the area beneath it. Expected result: a clean surface should allow faster sensing.
- Move the detector closer to the place where water would first collect, such as a cabinet floor or tray. Expected result: the detector should react sooner if the leak starts there.
- Confirm that the battery is in good condition. Expected result: stable power should support normal warning behaviour.
- If the response still seems slow, stop using the detector and contact the retailer or store where it was purchased.
Stop using the product if the delay is long enough that you cannot trust it to warn you early. In a leak situation, seconds matter, especially near electricity or stored goods.
Regularly check the sensor area after cleaning or moving appliances, because a slight shift in position can change how quickly water is detected.
