Why is grease leaking or pooling around my contact grill?

Grease pooling usually means the appliance is not level, the collector is not fitted correctly, or the food is producing more fat than the tray can manage. Models with a grease collector are meant to channel excess fat away from the cooking area, so visible pooling should be checked promptly. Stop using the grill if grease is leaking onto the plug, cable or worktop near the socket.

1. Switch off and unplug the grill, then let it cool fully.
   Expected result: the area should be safe to inspect without heat or steam.
2. Check that the grease collector is in place and not overfilled. Empty, wash and dry it before refitting.
