Why does my heater need cleaning and how should I do it safely?

Regular light cleaning can help a heater run more consistently and reduce dust smells. Always unplug the appliance and let it cool fully first, because hot heating appliances and moisture are a risky combination.

1. Switch the heater off, unplug it and wait until it is completely cool. The expected result is that the casing and any nearby parts are safe to touch before cleaning starts. If the appliance is still warm, wait longer.
2. Wipe the outside with a soft, slightly damp cloth only. Do not let water or any other liquid enter the unit. The expected result is clean exterior surfaces without wetting the controls or vents. If dirt remains in vents, continue.
3. Use a fine brush to remove dust from the air suction opening or other accessible grille areas. The expected result is better airflow after dust removal. If there is stubborn dirt, do not use sharp tools or spray cleaners.
4. Check that nothing has been stored against the heater, and that cloths, curtains or packaging are not blocking the vents after cleaning. The expected result is clear airflow space around the appliance. If the heater still smells dusty or overheats, continue.
5. Stop using the product if liquid has entered the housing, the plug has become wet, or the cable has been damaged during cleaning. Contact the retailer or store where it was purchased if the issue remains unresolved or safe use is uncertain.
