If your crêpe maker stays cold, start with the simplest checks first, because a loose plug, an inactive socket or an overheated appliance can all look like the same fault. The unit should warm up after it is connected correctly, and the ready light should change as the plate reaches baking temperature. The manuals for these models also note that the appliance is designed for a 220-240 V supply and should be used on a stable, flat surface with the correct accessories only.
- Check that the plug is fully inserted into a working wall socket. If possible, test the socket with another small appliance. If the socket does not work, stop using the crêpe maker and use another suitable socket.
- Look for the power indication light. If there is no light at all, unplug the appliance and inspect the cord for visible damage, pinching or a loose connection at the plug. Do not use the appliance if the cord, plug or base looks damaged.
- Turn the thermostat to a higher setting and wait a few minutes. A crêpe maker normally needs a short preheat period before the ready light goes out and the plate reaches cooking temperature. If the light never changes and the plate stays cold, the appliance should not be used further.
- Make sure the unit is on a flat, stable, heat-resistant surface with space around it. If it is tilted, blocked or too close to other items, the heating may not perform as expected. Move it to a clear surface and try again.
- If the appliance still does not heat, stop using it. Do not open the housing or attempt electrical repairs. Contact the retailer or store where it was purchased and explain that the appliance powers on but does not heat.
A slight smell on first use can be normal, but a complete lack of heat is not. If you are unsure whether the plug, cord or socket is safe, stop using the product immediately.
