Why does my rice cooker indicator light stay off or act strangely?

If the indicator light stays off or changes in an unexpected way, the cooker may not be receiving power, the inner pan may not be seated correctly, or the appliance may have entered its protection mode. These rice cookers include power indication lights and boil-dry protection, so a light issue should be checked together with the heating behaviour. Do not ignore a light that is off while the appliance is still hot or unplug and reconnect it repeatedly if you are unsure what is happening.

1. Check the socket and plug first. If the cooker has no power light at all, confirm the outlet works with another appliance.
2. Lift out the inner pan, dry the underside and refit it so it sits flat. A poor contact can stop the light and heating cycle from behaving normally.
3. Look for residue, moisture or a foreign object between the pan and the heating plate. Remove any debris only when the appliance is unplugged and cool.
4. If the light still does not behave as expected after these checks, stop using the cooker and have the retailer inspect the product.

Expected result: the indicator light should show normal power or heating status during use and change only when the cycle progresses.
