Why does my LED plug-in lamp flicker or go off when I move the plug?

If your plug-in lamp flickers or cuts out when the plug or cable is nudged, the cause is often a loose connection, a partially inserted plug or a cable that is strained at the socket. Switch the lamp off at the wall, let it cool if it has been on, and check the plug, lead and socket before using it again.

1. Switch the lamp off and unplug it.
2. Inspect the cable for bends, pinching, cuts or visible damage.
3. Plug the lamp directly into a known working wall socket, not through a loose adapter or unstable extension lead.
4. Insert the plug fully and make sure the lead is not pulling on the socket.
5. Switch the lamp on and gently move the lead near the plug, then watch whether the light flickers.

Expected result: the lamp should stay steadily on and should not change brightness when the lead is still. If it only works in one position, or if the plug feels warm, stop using the product.

When to stop using it

Stop using the lamp immediately if you see scorch marks, hear crackling, smell burning, or if the cable or plug is damaged. Do not open the housing or try to repair the wiring yourself.

If the issue remains unresolved, or safe use is uncertain, contact the retailer or store where the product was purchased.
