Why does my air conditioner keep stopping in heating mode?

If your air conditioner stops by itself during heating use, it may be protecting itself from overheating rather than failing completely. Check the room conditions and airflow first, then stop using the unit if the shutdowns are accompanied by smell, smoke or abnormal heat.

Check for heating protection

1. Turn the unit off and let it cool for a while.
2. Confirm the air outlet and surrounding area are clear.
3. Restart only after the unit and room have cooled enough for safe operation.

What to observe

One manual states that in heating mode the unit can power off automatically when the air outlet temperature exceeds 70 degrees. If the unit restarts normally after cooling, the protection feature was likely the reason.

Reduce strain on the appliance

1. Do not block the air outlet.
2. Keep the air inlet clear.
3. Avoid placing the unit too close to soft furnishings or curtains.

When to stop using it
