What does it mean when I see the code DF on the display of the indoor unit of my air conditioner and the outdoor unit seems to be frozen?
This code is not an error code, but the code that indicates that the system is defrosting the outdoor unit: DeFrost. This usually happens when the air conditioner is heating a room. When heating a room, the outdoor unit starts to cool down and if the outside temperature is already quite cold, the outdoor unit can freeze.
When this happens, the system automatically stops heating the room and discharges the warm air to the outdoor unit to defrost that unit. This process can take 10 to 15 minutes. After that, the air conditioner starts heating the room again.
It is important not to press any buttons, but to wait until defrosting is complete. After that, the air conditioner will automatically start heating again. If you have pressed all kinds of buttons, unplug the plug from the socket and plug it back in after about 15 minutes. In this way, the air conditioner resets itself.
