Why does my microwave door open or close unevenly during use?

If the door feels loose, sits unevenly or needs extra force to close, treat it as a safety issue. A door that does not shut correctly can prevent proper operation and may let the appliance run in an unsafe condition, so stop using it if the latch will not engage reliably.

Inspect the door and opening area

1. Switch off and unplug the microwave.
2. Check the door edges, hinges and latch area for food residue, bent parts or visible damage.
