Why is the steam button on my garment steamer not staying locked on?

If the steam button will not stay locked, the appliance may still work in short bursts, but a loose or ineffective lock can make steaming difficult and tiring. Check the control gently and only use the product if it operates as intended.

Check the button and grip

1. Make sure you are pressing the button fully into its lock position, if your model includes a lockable steam button.
2. Release and press it several times to see whether it feels sticky, uneven or weak.
3. Check that no water residue, fabric lint or limescale is interfering with the control.

Compare the symptom with normal operation

• Button moves cleanly and steam is steady: the control may simply need firmer engagement.
• Button will not latch, slips immediately or feels damaged: there may be a mechanical fault.

Use a safe workaround only if the appliance still behaves normally

1. If steaming still starts and stops correctly when you press it manually, continue only as a temporary measure.
2. If the button is unreliable, do not force it or tape it in place.

Stop using the steamer if the button jams, sticks in the on position, or makes the appliance run unexpectedly. If the issue remains unresolved or safe use is uncertain, contact the retailer or store where it was purchased.
