Why is my iron not producing steam?

If the iron heats but no steam comes out, the most likely causes are an empty tank, a low temperature setting or a steam control that is not set for steaming. The manuals state that steam use only works when the iron is hot enough and the tank contains water.

1. Check that the water tank contains clean water and that the fill level is not below the minimum needed for steam use.
2. Set the thermostat to the highest steam-capable setting and wait for the indicator light to show the iron has reached temperature.
3. Move the steam control to the steam position and hold the iron horizontally while testing the burst or continuous steam function, if fitted.
4. If you have just filled the tank, give the iron a short moment to stabilise and test again on an old cloth.

The expected result is visible steam from the soleplate holes. If there is still no steam, or water leaks instead, stop using the iron and contact the retailer or store where it was purchased for advice on the next step.

Do not keep pressing steam controls repeatedly if the iron is not ready, and do not use the appliance if there is any sign of electrical damage, leakage or overheating.
