Where do I place my carbon monoxide alarm?

Intro

  • Follow the steps to make sure that your CO detector has been placed correctly.
  • Incorrect placement could lead to a suboptimal working of your CO alarm.
  • This could lead to dangerous situations.




Step 1

  • Place your carbon monoxide alarm at least 185cm from any source of carbon monoxide.
  • Known sources of CO are stoves, hearths and boilers.





Step 2

  • Make sure to place it around 150cm above the floor.
  • Never place it up high near the ceiling.
  • Carbon monoxide is heavier than air and has the tedency to sink down, unlike smoke that rises up due to heat.
