Switch off devices if carbon monoxide is detected

With the Link you can switch off devices if carbon monoxide is detected by a connected CO detector. By switching off an Energy Socket (or a Philips Hue switch via the Hue integration) when carbon monoxide is detected, a modern central heating boiler always switches off, so that the carbon monoxide spread can be stopped. That is very safe.

Setting the function

• For this functionality, the following devices must be paired with the Link;
  • Energy Socket
  • Mesh CO Detector

The following steps explain how to add this function HomeWizard Link App:

1. Open the 'HomeWizard link' app

1. Go to the 'My Home' tab at the bottom right of the screen.
2. Navigate to 'Home Settings' by tapping the gear icon.
3. Go to 'Security'
4. Scroll down to the safety section and turn on 'Devices off at CO' .
5. Choose from the list of devices which switches you want to turn off in case of a CO report

The next time carbon monoxide is detected, the selected switches will turn off. You will then have to turn them on independently again.

Why turn off devices?

One of the biggest causes of carbon monoxide in homes is the central heating boiler. If not enough air can get to the boiler or if there is another defect, carbon monoxide can be formed.

By switching off an Energy Socket (or a Philips Hue switch via the Hue integration) when carbon monoxide is detected, a modern central heating boiler always switches off, so that the carbon monoxide spread can be stopped. That is very safe.

Can I choose per CO detector which devices should switch off

At the moment it is not possible to switch off devices per CO detector. All selected devices will turn off every time one of your CO alarms detects carbon monoxide.
