If your rice cooker does not light up or start, first check the power supply and make sure the inner pan is fitted correctly and the appliance contains liquid or rice. These models also include boil-dry protection, so they may refuse to heat if they detect no suitable contents. If you can smell burning, see damage, or the appliance still stays dead after the checks below, stop using it.
- Check that the plug is fully inserted and the wall socket works with another appliance. If the socket is dead, use a different socket.
- Make sure the inner pan is inside the cooker and seated properly. On supported models, the inner pan must always be in place before switching on.
- Confirm there is rice and water in the pan, or at least liquid as required for the selected use. A dry pan can trigger protection and prevent heating.
- Look at the power indication light or cook light, if your model has one. If no light appears after trying a known working socket, the appliance is not receiving power.
If the cooker still does not respond, or if the power cord, plug or housing is damaged, stop using the product immediately. Do not open the housing or attempt any electrical repair. If the issue remains unresolved or safe use is uncertain, contact the retailer or store where the product was purchased.
