If the grill is hard to clean, the plates may have been left to cool with burnt-on food or too much grease. Clean it only once it is fully cool, and stop if the coating is damaged, because damaged surfaces are harder to clean and may no longer be suitable for use.
Safer cleaning routine
- Switch off, unplug and allow the grill to cool completely.
- Remove the grease collector, if fitted, and empty it.
- Wipe the plates with a soft cloth or sponge and a mild detergent.
- Soak stubborn residue with warm, soapy water if the surface design allows it, then wipe again with a clean cloth.
What to observe
- If residue lifts more easily after soaking, the problem is normal food build-up.
- If the plates remain sticky because the coating is rough or flaking, the surface may be worn.
- If you cannot clean around the hinge or collector area without force, be patient rather than scraping.
When to stop using it
Stop using the grill if the coating is peeling, the plates are cracked or you need metal tools to remove food safely. Never immerse the electrical appliance in water. If the issue remains unresolved or safe use is uncertain, contact the retailer or store where the product was purchased.
