Why does my microwave child lock not seem to work?

If the child lock does not seem to behave as expected, the controls may be locked, partly responding or not reset correctly. Because this feature is there to prevent unintended use, stop using the microwave if the keypad seems unreliable or the oven starts when it should not.

1. Check the manual or product label for the exact lock method on your model, then repeat it carefully. Expected result: the control panel should change state only when the correct sequence is used.
2. Make sure the door is closed fully before testing the lock. Expected result: the panel should respond in a consistent way when the door is secure.
3. Disconnect the microwave from power briefly, then reconnect it and test the controls again. Expected result: the lock should reset if the issue was temporary.
4. If the lock still does not behave consistently, or if the appliance can be started unexpectedly, stop using it. Expected result: the microwave should remain safely idle when locked.
5. Contact the retailer or store where it was purchased if the issue remains unresolved.

Do not try to bypass the child lock or alter the control panel. If a child safety feature is not dependable, do not leave the appliance connected and unattended.
