Why does my blender not start when I turn it on?

If your blender does not start, the most common causes are an incorrect jar position, a lid that is not seated properly, or a problem with the wall socket or cord. Start with the simplest checks first, and stop using the blender immediately if you notice burning smells, damaged parts or any sign of overheating.

1. Make sure the blender is unplugged, then place the jar back on the base and turn it until it is fully locked. Expected result: the jar sits firmly and does not wobble. If it will not lock, do not force it.
2. Check that the lid is fitted correctly and that no ingredient is preventing the safety switch from being engaged. Expected result: the blender should only be ready to run when the parts are seated properly.
3. Confirm the power plug is fully inserted and try another appliance in the same socket. Expected result: if the other appliance also fails, the socket is likely the issue.
4. Inspect the cord, plug and base for visible damage, heat marks or a loose fit. Expected result: the blender should remain cool and intact. If anything looks damaged, stop using the product.
5. Leave the blender to cool for a while if it was recently in use. Expected result: a motor that has overheated may start again after cooling, but repeated cut-outs mean it should not be used further until the cause is known.
