Why does my vacuum cleaner keep cutting out when I move the cord?

If the cleaner switches off when the cord or plug is nudged, there may be an unstable mains connection or damage to the cable. Stop using the product immediately if you see exposed wire, scorching, sparking or hear crackling. Unplug it before any inspection.

1. Check whether the plug is fully inserted into the wall socket. Expected result: the cleaner should stay on when the plug is seated firmly.
2. Examine the power cord along its full length for cuts, flattening or fraying. Do not use the cleaner if the cord is damaged. Expected result: you should be able to confirm whether the issue is mechanical damage.
3. Move the cord gently near the plug and near the appliance entry point while the cleaner is unplugged. If the cord feels loose, stop using the machine and have the retailer advise on next steps.
4. Try a different wall socket if the cord looks sound. Expected result: the cleaner should remain powered if the first socket was unreliable.
5. If the cleaner still cuts out when the cord is moved, stop using it and contact the retailer or store where it was purchased.
