If the unit seems to run but never begins cooling, it may be in the wrong mode or waiting for a temperature condition to be met. Check the selected mode first, then confirm the temperature setting and the room conditions before assuming there is a fault.
Confirm the mode on the control panel or remote
- Set the unit to Cooling, not Fan or Dehumidifying.
- Choose a temperature below the current room temperature.
- Wait a few minutes after changing the setting, as portable units can take a short time to respond.
If the compressor still does not start, check the room and installation conditions.
Check the likely causes
- The doors or windows are open.
- Heat sources are present in the room.
- The exhaust hose is disconnected, kinked or blocked.
- The air inlet is obstructed by dust or nearby objects.
These issues can make the unit behave as if it is only circulating air. Once they are corrected, cooling should become more noticeable.
When to stop using the unit
Stop using the product if it gives off a burning smell, trips the power supply or shows signs of damage to the hose, plug or casing. If the issue remains unresolved or safe use is uncertain, contact the retailer or store where it was purchased for advice on the next steps. The manuals list the same checks, including mode selection, room temperature settings, windows and doors, the exhaust hose and the air inlet.
