If your rice cooker changes from cook to warm too early, it may be detecting the temperature it expects before the rice is actually done. This can happen if the bowl is not seated properly, there is too little water, or the rice load is too small for the model.
Check the cooking set-up
- Unplug the appliance and let it cool.
- Lift out the inner bowl and confirm it is clean, dry on the outside, and sitting flat in the outer body.
- Measure the rice and water again using the supplied cup. The manuals instruct you to use the marked water levels and adjust only slightly for a softer or firmer result.
- Make sure the lid is fitted correctly before switching back on.
- Try a fresh batch of rice, especially if the previous one was washed poorly or left with too little liquid.
What to observe
If the cooker stays on cook for a normal cycle and then switches to warm at the end, it is working as intended. The manuals state that some models switch automatically to warm, or shut off when the cooking temperature is reached. If it keeps changing to warm very quickly, the rice is likely under-watered or the bowl is not transferring heat properly.
Stop using it if
Stop using the rice cooker if it repeatedly changes mode with no clear reason, produces burning smells, or the base becomes unusually hot. If the issue remains unresolved or safe use is uncertain, contact the retailer or store where it was purchased.
To reduce repeat problems, rinse rice before cooking, keep the outside of the bowl dry, and do not exceed the marked maximum content indicator on models that have one.
