Why does my rice cooker need cleaning after every use?

Modified on Mon, 24 Aug at 6:32 PM

Regular cleaning matters because starch, steam residue and trapped moisture can affect cooking, smell and heat transfer. These rice cookers have a removable inner pan, and some models also have a detachable lid, so the most effective care is to clean the food-contact parts after each use and keep the base dry. Never clean the base under running water or in a dishwasher.

  1. Unplug the cooker and let it cool completely before cleaning.
  2. Remove the inner pan and wash it with warm water, mild detergent and a soft sponge. Do not use hard objects that could scratch the non-stick coating.
  3. Wipe the heating plate, housing and steam exhaust area with a slightly damp cloth, then dry them fully.
  4. If your model has a detachable lid, remove it only when cool, clean it gently and refit it securely once dry.

Expected result: the cooker should be free from rice residue and stale smells, with the pan and lid fitting cleanly next time you use it.

Stop using the product if: cleaning reveals peeling coating, corrosion, cracks, loose parts or any sign that moisture has entered the base. If the issue remains unresolved or safe use is uncertain, contact the retailer or store where the product was purchased.
