Why is my fire extinguisher bracket not holding it securely on the wall?

If the bracket does not hold the extinguisher securely, do not leave the unit hanging loosely. A poorly mounted extinguisher can fall, become damaged or be hard to reach in an emergency. Stop using the current mounting arrangement until it is safe, and ask the retailer where it was purchased for advice on the next step.

1. Check that the extinguisher sits fully in the supplied metal bracket. Expected result: the cylinder rests securely without wobbling.
2. Inspect the wall fixings and the wall surface. Expected result: the bracket is firmly anchored to a suitable surface.
3. Confirm the mounting position is easy to reach and clearly visible. Expected result: the extinguisher is accessible and not blocked.
4. Check that it is not mounted in a place where it can be knocked off or where a fire could block access. Expected result: the location is still sensible and safe.
5. If the bracket or wall fixings cannot hold the extinguisher firmly, stop using that mounting point and arrange suitable help through the retailer or a competent installer.

The manuals state that the extinguisher should be mounted properly and firmly anchored, and that the mounting height should be between 1 and 1.5 metre above the floor. Do not improvise with unsafe fixings.
