Why does my hand blender feel hot during use?

A hand blender can feel warm during normal use, but a hot motor housing or handle should be treated carefully. If the warmth becomes uncomfortable, or if you notice a strong smell, stop using it and let it cool fully.

1. Switch off the hand blender and unplug it.
2. Allow it to cool before checking whether the load was too heavy or the blending time too long.
3. Try again with a smaller amount and shorter bursts, if the appliance appears undamaged.
4. Check the shaft and blades for trapped food or resistance when turned by hand, only when unplugged and fully stopped.

If the appliance runs cooler after rest and lighter use, the motor was probably under strain. If it becomes hot very quickly, or the warmth comes with smoke, unusual noise or loss of power, stop using it and contact the retailer or store where it was purchased.

Stop using the hand blender immediately if the cord, plug or motor housing shows signs of heat damage, melting or burning.
